I need to replace my SJB on my 2006 Ranger Sport 3.0V6.. However I am being told that i just can’t get one from the junkyard , because it needs to be programmed. So my questions are
1. can a used SJB be programmed
2. Does the used SBJ have to have the same options as the one I have
3. how can I tell what SBJ I need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also would an Oasis Report tell me the last two numbers that I need to match my SBJ.

SJB is the Body computer on 2004 to 2011 Rangers, like the GEM was on 1995-2003 Rangers

As far as I know there were only 2 "flavors" of SJBs, with keyless entry(Fobs) and without

Check at car-part.com

For "Part" select "computer box, NOT engine"

Then when it asks, you want the "multifunction(RH kick panel).........." your choice of keyless entry, that's the SJB in junk yard terms, lol

Then you should get a selection of years that will work, 2004-2006 look like matches

No, no programming is required but there are features you can turn off like Daylight running lights(DRL)

The last 2 digits are the revision number and can be helpful to match

Ford part numbers work this way
Say you have this number 4L5T-14B476-AK
4 = 2004, 5 would be 2005, but its NOT the year of the vehicle, its the year the part was first used as is, this number changes IF there is a major change
L5 = Ranger or Mazda B-series
T = division at Ford that made this part

14B476 = actual part number for an SJB BUT...........in any model of Ford, not Ranger specific, only L5 means it for a Ranger

AK= revision code and/or software code, because this part does have software the revision number is good to match

Your part number on your SJB may start with 4L5 to 6L5, 2004 to 2006, 7L5(2007 Ranger) looks like a major change was done to the SJB

I was told by a mechanic that I need a new SJB. I have not rear running, or dash lights. I have checked all of the fuses. I was told that the SJB for my 05 Ranger is now no longer available new. Is the SJB the panel that the fuzes plug into?

Yes, that is the SJB, the fuse panel is part of the SJB

There were only 2 versions used in Rangers, with keyless entry(Fobs) and without keyless entry
And no you can't add keyless entry just by getting that versions, there are other parts involved and more wiring

Best place to get a used one is here: https://www.car-part.com/

2005
Ford Ranger
Computer Box not Engine

Skip area
YOUR Zipcode
Search

New widow opens
Select Multi-function (RH) Kick panel, with YOUR vehicles keyless entry status
Search

SJBs usually failed because of water getting inside and they corrode
