ABS issues
ABS issues
Good morning troops I seem to be having ABS issues. Literally making a turn in my driveway doing less than 10 km/h even coming up to stop light stop signs behind people all of a sudden my ABS kicks in on my 2004 4 L Ford ranger. There is absolutely no reason I could think of as to why this would be happening other than sensors or something but I’m just not overly mechanically inclined when it comes to this kind of stuff.
does anyone else have these kind of problems in the past that they can help give me some insight? One fellow said wheelbearings but then how do you know which ones to look for I wouldn’t even know if one was bad or not because the vehicle is not doing anything suggestive of a bearing problem that I can tell.
please help
Thank you

You should have 4 wheel ABS in a 2004 Ranger
Check brake fluid level in Master, always
If possible spray off any dirt/mud on the back side of front wheels, near the hub/center, I think the sensors are internal but might help
Go to a gravel road and speed up then hit the brakes, see if one of the wheels is locking up
Rear ABS sensor is on the rear differential, easy to change and not expensive, you can test it with OHM Meter as well, 1,400 ohms is expected, +/- 400 ohms
