96 ranger 2x4 4.0 ohv V6 fuel injectors?
96 ranger 2x4 4.0 ohv V6 fuel injectors?
My truck is due for new fuel injectors, and figured while I have it taken apart I might as well upgrade. So here's my question what upgraded fuel injectors can I put in my truck if any?
Good brand is about the only thing that would be considered an upgrade, but Ford injectors are about the best
Injectors are not like Jets on a carburetor
Computer is programmed for injector size(pounds per hour) and expected fuel pressure(35psi in 1996), so it can calculate how much fuel will flow out if an injector is opened for say 100ms(milliseconds)
If you put in larger injectors then all you will get are Rich codes and less power because computer's calculations are off, a flooded engine
I think the 4.0l OHV uses 14 pound injectors, 14lb/hr
Fuel is not power directly, it has to be in the correct mix with air to get a good "burn" to release the power, for gasoline that's a 14.7:1 ratio
And it is a WEIGHT ratio, 14.7 pounds of air to 1 pound of gasoline
A 5 liter engine has more power than a 3 liter engine because it can pull in 2 more liters of air, so can release more energy from the fuel
A turbo or super charged engine can Force more air into the engine so it can release more power from the fuel
Add more air, get more power
Add more fuel, get a flooded engine
