you're gonna pay anywhere from $25 to $75 dollars. I got mine for $45 from a local pick and pull (junkyard) with everything i needed minus the mounting screws.

as far as the install, it took me roughly 4 hours from start to finish using John Griggs (n3elz) very detailed how-to on his cardomain.

It's a pretty easy installation if you have a moderate amount of mechanical inclination and some power tools.

I used :

a dremel
metal cutter bit for dremel
hammer
small chisel ( just to lengthen the holes for the clips )
wire strippers
barrel splices
snap splices
and some various other everyday handtools

LKQ will sell you just the console in many cases. I go to one of their yards and then track down the bracket, harness, and temp sensor. I have a bracket and harness available as of now, but I don't have a temp sensor. If you go ahead and get an OHC lacking these components, let me know and I'll get you a set of them.

You want it to be far enough away from engine and radiator heat to prevent errors. I used a set of holes on the front side of the radiator support near the driver side headlight. If your sensor has the Explorer pushpin still attached, it will plug right in. If not, zip ties should do it.
