Get 06 emblems, it'll look so much better. Krylon Fusion spray paint and you won't need any primer.

I really want to paint mine too, because I detest chrome. I have carbon-fiber emblems on my evo. I don't think carbon fiber would go good on the truck because it just dosent match. Besides on the car the stock wing is carbon fiber, and since I have the MR edition it has the carbon fiber interior.

I was thinking to paint the chrome silver, or maybe gunmetal grey?

How would that be way to much work? You pull them out and hit them with a couple coats of paint

06+ Ranger Badges and tape off the lettering and paint the chrome the same color blue as your truck. That would look good!

imo....take the emblems off......or order brand spanking new ones. don't have to be the 06+ style, but it's definately easier to work with with them not being on the truck. Plus new emblems are only like $15 each, so it's cheap and easier to work with new stuff.

I used Duplicolor Adhesion Promoter...that's basically a clear primer. no sanding needed. I love this stuff, have yet to have a chip in anything that i used the adhesion promoter on. Then color. Then clear, a nice good layer of high gloss clear.

I'd also remove all the black, so you've got a uniform color to go ontop of. i've been working on a how-to involving both ranger emblem styles. Here's a vid on removing the black 'paint' from the emblems...same theory on your style emblems.....(said some things wrong...want to redo sometime)

And a link to my modded emblems...basically a complete how-to...

I just painted mine too, took like 15 mins a side to mask them off but I didn't get any on the paint. Mine were "acetoned" so they looked stupid as hell and I couldn't stand it anymore. I just wiped mine down and sparyed some Duplicolor bedliner on them, much better IMO but I still am going to get 06+ ones eventually. I also did my billet grill since I thought it was ugly too, also much better now.
