NEW Clear LED 3rd Brake Light

I know there's a million pic of these, but I'll add mine up too.

The 1st of a few X-Mas presents to the Ranger from me.

Simple plug and play.

The surround was chrome, so I gave it a light sand, a few coats of flat black, and a few coats of clear.

The harness in the truck has 3 prongs (ground, brake lamp, acc lamp) and the harness on the light has 3. I would have figured that the acc lamps would light up with the door ajar or the acc lamps on with the interior light wheel.

My stocker had only the brake lamp so it's harness just had 2 prongs. I'll have to check that out when I bring the truck in the garage. Too cold outside.

Yeah, as Chris said...plug'n'play application. Best cheap mod to do IMO, looks great with my RECON line of fire bar.

Just like the one I bought I think. Is yours just the regular or the 'smoked' one?

As far as the cargo lights, if your truck is an early 2003 or older it likely has the correct harness and it should light up right now.

The stock light only had 2 prongs because it didn't have the cargo lights in it. Had it been the red and white CHMSL there likely would've been three prongs.

I want some night pics. I have been looking at them on ebay but want to see how bright the cargo lights are.

The one I made is much brighter, redder, and vivid when lit up. I think the chrome is very tackey, so I chose to stay away from the plug and play light.

They're decently bright but nothing too special.

JP7, only issue with that IMO is that you have no cargo lamps with that system.

I have a hard-flipup tonneau cover, cargo lights have no use.

I will be installing 2- 6 foot white LED strips in my bed for MEGA bright lighting as soon as the temperature gets in the ranger where I can work in the truck.

Dosen't look very bright... can you clearly see it when you stop? The dispersers make it fill the entire opening. Thats what make it say STOP really loud IMO.

Looking out the back window you can see it light up the bed, not real bright or anything. But it passes inspection and looks super uber cool!!!

It's suppose to be the smoked one. Really doesn't look to "smoked", but from the eBay pics, mine looks darker then the regular but lighter then the smoked.

I may put a light coat of Niteshade on it though, just to "smoke" it.

I'm going to take it off tomorrow and look at the harness. The post for the acc lights may have been pushed out and it's probably not making contact.

Yeah, wasn't a fan of the chrome when I opened the box. I don't have any on the truck, so it would stick out. Looks much better painted black.

Seen that one too, but I wanted the cargo lights. I knew my harness from the Ranger had 3 prongs so I knew I could the cargo lights to work with just "plug and play".

If you think its not bright enough just install a flasher unit on your high mount light... easy to do, and gets attention...
