Eg that sucks for sure. I'm glad your ok.

I'd say it's totaled. With the body lift it can quickly allow the frame to twist and misalign body components.

That sucks about the truck man! BUT at least you were able to walk away (or limp away).

I'd guess the ins. will total it... be sure to take EVERYTHING you can, down to the sparkplugs before you let them have it.

That's true for just about any car, of any age. If your brand new Mercedes exceeds a 70/75% "threshold" they scrap it.

Dude, looks like you had a really nice truck but it's a goner. I assure you that your frame is bowed like a Banana. Take everything of value off of it and let it go on its way. At least it looks like it's gonna be an easy to deal with process.

Lawyer up. Remember, your neck and back STILL HURT. You want your vehicle replaced with a similar make/model worth at least as much as yours, INCLUDING the amount of man hours you have in yours performing modifications and adding aftermarket parts. Not to mention the value of those aftermarket parts. THEN, buy the truck back from the yard it goes to and use it for parts or part it out if it's cheap enough.

I'd have my lawyer ask for at least $60,000 and go down from there. For vehicle costs, emotional distress, and suffering. PLUS medical bill and legal fee coverage on the side.

Thats really stupid **** to do IMO. People who play that stupid **** deserve to actually have that damage happen to them. And who pays that 60 grand? We do. Its taxes.

STFU.

Seriously though, that's where I'd start. You never get the full amount so lawyers all start higher than needed. Plus the OP deserves it anyway. Some idiot cop f'd up his truck, and he's now on pain meds that may or may not have a bad effect on his liver or entire body. He's also lost a truck that he probably really liked and has countless hours into. The cop should've been watching where his dumb *** was going.

The lawsuit money will come from THAT COUNTY'S TAXES you tard.

Sh*t I edited this a million times. lol

Sucks about the truck man. But, it can be replaced, people cannot.

If the frame is fine, it'll just depend on the year/mileage whether or not it's totaled. Any frame damage at all and I'd bet on them totaling it.

I've never had to Lawyer up in any of my dealings with the insurance companies. but i've heard of people filing a suit when the company cuts them a check for half of what they'd expect. all i can say is if your getting a check, you absolutely need to start shopping rangers of your year and options, if the cheapest you can find a ranger that is very close to yours is say 5k, and the insurance company cuts you a check for 3.5k, you can say hey, i've done my research and this is the going rate of this year model with these options. they'll usually play a little ball when that happens.

they will replace with book value of vehicle damaged...no NEW truck...lol

X2....if you know everyone on a first name basis i wouldnt lawyer up JUST yet.. i would wait and see how they handle it..but just expect them to replace your truck (IF) totalled with what the value of your truck is worth..not counting mods you have added...unfortunatley thats what most insurance companies will do unless YOU have xtra insurance that covers those items..then (maybe) they will honor it. sorry to hear and see...LOVE your truck, but glad your somewhat ok..lol!!!

Agreed. I'd get a lawyer and make sure you get what you need. Don't try to make out in the deal. I hope it all works out. At least the cop admitted wrongdoing, and they aren't trying to pin it on you.

Actually, by US law - the lights -DO NOT- mean you have to yield, it is their intention of getting by you - they still have to obey the laws of the road. If he shot through a stop sign and tboned a car, it means he wasnt driving safely - and the county is now responsible for replacing your vehicle and any other "funding" thats needed.

Yeah I'm hoping to not have a lawyer involved. We called the state patrol office again today and they still don't have the police report ready. My dad has one of our insurance adjusters coming out to tell us if he thinks it is totaled or not. I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks for all the great responses.

My previous comment about the injuries was more of a joke. I guess I need to learn how to specify when I'm meaing that. There is one thing I do know about injuries though. They come back to haunt you later on in life. I had whiplash one time in my life. Not even a bad case either. It still comes back to visit me at least once a year with no warning. It makes my head completely immobile for days. So he may deserve something for pain and suffering after all. He just doesn't know it yet.

Also, when dealing with cops, rule one is NEVER TALK and NEVER BELIEVE anything they say. They can lie to you LEGALLY, yet you can't do the same with them. Always do your talking through a lawyer when it comes to the police or you will (eventually) learn the hard way to do so. Even when dealing with an insurance company it's highly advisable to do the talking with a lawyer. For multiple reasons.
