1990 Ranger 2.3 fuel relay?

Hello, first post in here. I have a 1990 Ranger with a 2.3 thats has 370,000+ one owner miles on it. It has been sitting for a while. Im thinking the under hood relay might be bad. Not sure how to remove it? Just pull it out like a fuse? My Ranger wont run unless it has starting fluid sprayed into the throttlebody. It has been inside my garage for about a year. Fuel level is very low in the tank. Does not smell bad. Maybe has some water in it? Plan to eplace the fuel filter this weekend and see whats going on. It does click wieh the key is turned on and I do not hear a noise from the tank. Dont remember if the fuel pump should make a noise? Thanks for your input. Drew.

Drew,
I had issues with my fuel relay a few years back on my '94. What took me to that point was my truck not starting...at which time I noticed the absence of that momentary hum of the fuel pump. If you turn the key on and hear the fuel pump hum for a second or 2 before you engage the starter, then I would think the relay is probably OK. If you do not hear the fuel pump...it may be bad...may need to be pushed back in place...or may need to have it connectors cleaned. If you have to change it...yes, it does just pull out like a fuse. An easy change...at least on my '94 2.3L.
I hope this helps.
Barry
