hello I am a new member. my name is john. I must say I am having a hard time understanding and navigating this site.I am ready to give up.I have a 1990 ranger xlt with a 4.0. fuel pump won't shut off but intermittently it does. I have to disconnect battery to stop it. sometimes it will still run when battery is connected next day.fuel pump relay was not there and it still ran.I found this out after I bought a new one and plugged it in.

 

welcome.... there is nothing hard about getting around this site, everything is labeled clearly lol!


and it sounds like you are having a short to power situation. i would check your wires and connections from the fuel pump all the way to the fuse panel
