Hello my name is Moises I have a 98 ranger 2.5 crank no start replaced head timing belt water pump fuel pump. Ran great for a day then shut of while driving has spark and fuel pump works checked fuses and relays as well as inertia switch any ideas?

Welcome to the forum

Do 50/50 test.....always when you have a crank but no start
Spray gasoline or Quick Start(ether) into the engine and crank it over
If it starts and dies then fuel delivery is the problem
If it doesn't start then Spark is the problem
50/50

In your case if it doesn't start using 50/50 test then there is also timing belt has slipped or "walked off", not just spark

You can't test for spark, because spark is only useful if it happens at the right time, so testing if coil is sparking does tell you much, could still be a spark "timing" issue
And you can't test for fuel unless you pull out a spark plug after cranking engine to see if its WET with gasoline, fuel pump working and even fuel pressure at the engine doesn't mean injectors are working

50/50 test does it all, so very first thing I do when I run across crank but no start

So I sprayed starting fluid into the intake manifold and it started right up then died, I changed the fuel pump and filter again and fuel makes it pass the fuel filter but dosent make it to the fuel rail (checked the fuel pressure valve and it was at zero) any suggestions?

So spark and compression are good

I would take the fuel line off at the engine and put end in a container then turn the key on, fuel pump should only run for 2 seconds anytime key is turned on
Cycle key on and off a few times to make sure you are getting good flow into the container

There is a computer routine called Clear Flooded Engine, it turns OFF fuel injectors
It is initiated by the Throttle Position Sensor(TPS) at startup
Unplug the TPS sensor and then try to start the engine

The TPS is sent 5volts from computer
If throttle is closed then TPS sends under 1 volt back to computer, .69-.99v is spec
As throttle is opened the volts go up
At wide open throttle(WOT) TPS sends computer 4.5v to 4.9volts
If TPS is shorted inside or wires are shorted then Computer could get 4.5v-4.9v with Key on
This tells computer to run Clear Flooded Engine routine, so turn OFF injectors for cranking engine to dry it out

I have only run into this one time, it was a shorted TPS
Unplugging TPS is just a step to see if that could be the problem, a long shot but not a no shot, lol.

so I unplugged the fuel line and there is fuel going into the rail the injectors were wet when I pulled them out any suggestions?

Did you unplug the TPS and try to start engine?

You can't tell if fuel injectors are opening by pulling them out.

You can crank engine over a few times then pull out 1 spark plug, it should be WET with gasoline, but probably will be dry because of 50/50 test results

So if fuel rail has gasoline inside but it can't get into the engine then computer is not opening the fuel injectors, which can be cause by TPS or its wires
The fuel injectors all get 12volts on 1 Red wire when key is turned on
The computer has 1 ground wire from each injector, it grounds 1 injector as intake valve opens to let fuel into the engine
You can test the Red wire on any injector to see if it has 12volts with key on.
The 4 ground wires couldn't all fail at the same time so they should be fine

So could be computer failure
I would unhook battery for 5 minutes then reconnect, this will cause full reboot of computer software

Test if it starts

50/50 test shows that Spark is working and timed correctly, so Crank sensor is working, and that also times fuel injectors so they should be working
There is the CPS(cam position sensor) that is used to fine tune injector timing, but you should have many codes set by computer if that was the problem.
Can you get a code reader and see what computer has to say for itself :)
