im looking at 2 different rangers right now that both have 200k+ miles. im going for these cuz theyre cheaper than trucks with less mileage. i was wondering wut i would have to do to rebuild it with more power? i was thinking new rods rings and pistons and re doing the head with new valves springs and everything. let me know what im missing. thanks!

 

port match everything and smooth out the runners while your at it, maybe get beefier hardware, gaskets, and bolts. Maybe even a head swap? What kinda engine is it?4 banger? 6? 8? Might do headers, intake, and exhaust. Just generally beef up EVERYTHING in the engine as cheap insurance.

 

well not cheap, but might as well since it will be in pieces...

 

its the 2.3 4 banger. would i have to remove it all from the truck or could i leave the block in and work on it from the engine bay and take the head out to do all the work on that?

 

4 banger in rangers have plenty of room to work on.

 

so would i be able to put in new piston set ups with the block still in the truck?
