2.5 exhaust header

i have been looking around trying to get prices for a header pipe for my 2000 2.5 liter ranger with no luck. every thing i have found is for the v6 and 1 used header for a 2.3 on Ebay. Will the 2.3 header work on the 2.5? Who makes a header for the 2.5 and if there is a header for this eng. will it bolt up right up or will i need to make a new exhaust flange for it. my plans are to Port the intake and install a header to squeze more power from it.
I think this will give me the most bang for the buck. I have to pull the intake off anyhow to replace the # 3 and #4 spark plugs.

i got the truck from the second owner just before christmass and I am the 3rd owner for this truck. it went from Father to son before i got it and it has never seen a hard day in 142K miles. It took me two days of tinkering and cleaning to get the truck to go past 70 mph. the first thing i did was get rid of the after market cruse controle as it was drawing power from the ECM and when it was turned on the torque converter would start acting up.

Please keep in mind that i am on a limited budget for now and this is a truck that i drive back and forth to work ( aprox. 90 miles round trip ) 5 - 6 days per week. so any thing i do to the truck needs to be a weekend project. thanks for all your help.

You can get a tube header off the earlier 2.3 lima engines.

Here is a picture of one. I heard somewhere that the egr port is different than on the 2.5, but i haven't confirmed this:

I took that puppy off my motor i'm building up with a turbo.
I sold it, but the guy that bought it had the wrong engine, so he couldn't use it. i'd pm him so see if he still has it

Great news. looks like the only thing i might have to do is move the O2 sencer from the manifold to the exhaust pipe. it would have to be moved about 6" so it should still be in the same heat range for it's reading.

Aso you want to port the head and put in a little bigger injector for power increase. Like 17lb injectors. Maybe even 19s.

having owned a 2.5l truck with catback only for over 2 years, you are wasting your money on a header ... but anyhow best of luck.

i may wait on the header for now. but i am going to port the intake and at least check the head. as far as increasing the injecter size. will i need to get a programable mass air sencer for this. i tryed this on a 99 crown vic 4.6 once and ended up overfueling the eng.

Honestly, its not worth the headache. You got a great fuel efficient truck. Its not a powerhouse and you might gain maybe 10hp if you're really lucky at the cost of quite a few Benjamins if you know what i mean. ANd if you wanted a powerhouse truck, you would have bought something bigger.

The only header i would put on a lima engine, is this:

lol, its wut i'm doing!!!

Are there issues with the EGR compatibility? Looking at putting the 2.3 header on my 2000 2.5l because I cannot find a manifold. If I can get away with it and only relocate the O2 sensor I’m going to do it
