2008 Ford ranger 2.3 L need help

Hello everyone I have a 2008 Ford ranger 2.3 L that I have a few problems with listed below.

So the first problem I have is when it wants to idle idle is at 900 to 1000 RPMs and I don’t know how to fix that anybody has any suggestions on why that might be I would really appreciate it

Second problem I have is when I put it in reverse there’s a sucking sound that sounds like a vacuum line maybe that’s coming from under the car under the driver seat area I was wondering if there’s any vacuum lines around there that I can check and when I do put it in reverse RPMs jump up a bit around 1100 rpm’s.

The third problem I have is when I take off either in drive or reverse there is a clanking sound coming from the engine, but it resolves right away so it only happens for a few seconds and it only happens on takeoff.

The fourth problem I have is I don’t know if at 100% no problem but I took the oil cap off and excess air and little bit of splatter of oil was coming out of the engine when I put the cap back on it doesn’t blow it off as it’s like diesel blow bys so I don’t know if it’s a problem or if it’s normal

and my last problem the fifth and final is I have a P0171 code for a lean system and I change my O2 sensor and I guess the code came back so that didn’t fix it so I need suggestions on that, also maybe a few of these problems are linked to the same thing so if anybody has any idea or has had some problems like me and has figured it out I would graciously appreciate your help.

I tried to attach photos and video, but did not work

Welcome to the forum

I think you mean 2.3l DOHC engine, Rangers used the 2.3l DOHC Duratec engines from late 2001 thru 2011
Rangers had 2.5l SOHC in 1998-2001 mid year, only

Excessive Blow-by usually means PCV Valve needs to be changed, which is a pain on Rangers with 2.3l Duratec, Ford recommends changing PCV Valve every year, but every 2 years is OK
Its on drivers side, mid engine, need to access it by taking off drivers side wheel and go thru the inner fender

Good How-to seen here: https://www.ranger-forums.com/engine...-valve-116900/

This may also be the source of your high idle vacuum leak if hoses are cracked
