Everything should swap over just fine.

96 block has the crank sensor needed for the OBDII to work (for 95+ vehicles).
The 92 block does not have this. You'll need a differnet computer to run te 92 enigne in the 96 truck.

The 96 intake will not bolt to the 92 head. But the heads can swap over.

I meant intake manifolds. did you just swap over the intake tubes?

Is the intake off the 96 all 4 runners in a line? or a 2x2 square

Crank sensors only came on 95-up. Post a picture of the complete engine....

Those timing covers are interchangeable...

the intake i swapped over was 4 tube.......off a 96 i know that is right . but the engine i bought was fuel injected, has coil packs but intake looks like the one in the second picture...it does have a crank sensor heads are the same exhaust man. and intake manifold were different than what was on the engine in my 96...thats why i just took everything off the 96 and i am putting on the "other one"...... i havent cranked it yet a few more things to do...i wil take a picture but now it looks just like the one in the first picture.

You know, they could have swapped the head over. the heads swap over no matter the year (it was an 8 plug though, right?).
Mine, idk, if it had a crank sensor, the block at least is definitely a 95-up, as they didn't have it earlier on.

ok everything is in and wired up...but.....the crank sensor plugs are different? the one one the engine i bought has a round 4 pin with four wires going to it and a single plug with one wire.,.....but my truck has a 4pin round with only 2 wires going to it and nothing else and both plugs are female.........so im at a stop for the moment....again...

Another thing, the 92 engine will have a distributor, and the 96 engine will not. It is a DIS system. I totally forgot about that. You can get convertors to plug the 92 distributor hole and gives it an extra sensor.

Yeah, The 1992 2.3 came with coil packs from the factory. I had a 1990 with a 2.3 and it had coil packs on it.
The 2.3 got coil packs in 1989 for the Gen 2 Ranger.
