First time on the interstate, bad idea

Just wanted to maybe see if someone had ideas about what I could've done taking my 1990 2.3 single cab ranger on the interstate? Nothing out of the normal happened on the drive there and back but when I got in it the next morning it didn't want to start. I have crank but no start. Thought I maybe killed my fuel pump on the drive so I replaced that this morning and now it's getting fuel but won't start. Spark plugs are less then 6 weeks old also

Spray fuel into the engine and see if it fires/starts, called 50/50 test
If it starts, runs then stalls, spark is OK but fuel delivery is not
If it doesn't start/fire then spark is the issue
50/50 no guessing

The 2.3l SOHC Lima engine also has one other thing to check if there is no start/fire on 50/50 test, timing belt
Timing belt can slip or break with no warning, works, then it doesn't
So look behind the cover to see if belt is on the cam gear and if its spinning when engine is being cranked

1989-1994 2.3l Rangers use an ICM(ignition control module) for spark, and they could fail, not a common issue but a known issue as they got older

Do the 50/50 test and go from there

Like Ron said, don't forget to check the timing belt. You can easily see the back of the cam gear.
My timing belt broke right after a trip on the local interstate. A strong indicator you have a broken timing belt is your engine will crank abnormally fast since the cam's not connected to the crank with the belt broken.
Here's a couple of pics:

I have the 2.5L, basically the same engine.
You can see the belt was no longer in contact with the gear teeth(cogs). It was just sitting loose because it snapped.
