need a faver for someone with a timing light please

i have a 85 2.3 ranger and i was wondering if anyone that has a timing light would check what there ignition timing is with the spout connected and let me know. when i unplug my spout and set the timing to 10 degrees then reconnect the spout the timing is at 18 degrees btdc people told me thats not to high for the 2.3 but if someone could just trow a light on and let me know for sure i would appreciate it.

By spout I take it you mean vacuum advance . 18 would be about right.
As long as your base timing (10 degrees ) is set , don't worry about how much it advances.

spark output it stops the computer from advancing the timing and when you reconnect it the computer bumps the timing up but i think mine is advancing way to much 18 degrees at 900 rpm
