My 2.5 has just about the biggest PITA PCV valve imaginable. Instead of having the valve on the valve cover, there is a hose that goes from the valve cover, to the intake manifold where there is another hose that goes to the PCV valve which sits in a canister on the block. The PCV valve is under the intake manifold. The intake, fuel rail and #2 plug wire all make getting to it difficult. By disconnecting the #1 injector, I am able to squeeze my hand down to it and pull it out of the canister, but I can't move the hose enough to get it off. I thought about pulling the hose off the intake manifold and pulling the whole thing out and then putting it back on with the new valve, but I'm worried that I will never get the hose back in place. Why did Ford do this? Just so they could get $60 for replacing a $2 part? :? Anyway, has anyone removed the PCV valve from the 2.5 and reinstalled a new one without removing the intake manifold and how did you do it.

 

Ok, I got it on. My knuckles hurt, but it's on. You want the hose to be just slightly warm so that it is nice and flexible so that you can bend it up and take the old valve off.

 

my PCV valve is behind the intake manifold... it ain't never coming out.

 

Just wait until you change out the dual spark plug head... :) I feel your pain.

On my 93 mustang 2.3l, the PCV valve was way easy to get to. It was about 8 inches away from the head towards the master cylinder, just kinda hanging (off a hose) in the middle of nothing.

 

Yeah, I can't wait to change my spark plugs, lol!

On most (if not all) 2.3s it was between the two hoses like you said. Not the case with the 2.5 and I think some of the later 2.3s (but I'm not sure on that).

 

Hi Paco, funny but I changed that valve on my 2001 2.5 ltr. myself the other day. It was nicely hidden but all I have to do is pull the #2 ignition wire off the spark plug and gained access (if your hands are any larger that those of an 6 year-old it is a bit of a challenge but I got the old one off and new one on without much trouble.

 

Been there done that. Use the snap on spark plug socket to remove plugs, the mac tools black rubber plug starter to start them, and snap on socket to tighten them.

As far as pcv valve, bought one, went to install, after days of confusion it sits in the glove box :)

 

Yeah the pvc valve location sux. Even with my small hands i had a helluva time installing mine..but it took longer to locate it. And the spark plugs..I had to remove half my intake and (i have no idea what this was but it had antifreeze in it) this steel pipe that bolts to the back of the intake. The exhaust side was easier than the intake side. I put some Bosch Plat+4 plugs in it about 55k miles ago and they are still kicking ***

 

Good luck when you go to replace spark plugs.. Uggg.. Worst 3 hours ever.

I gotta replace my PCV valve too, havent done it yet. but this just makes me not want to do it lol.
