Pinging Noise 2.5L

Hey guys, I have a question for anyone who knows the answer to my problem. I have an 01 Ranger with the 2.5L engine. I have always noticed that when driving my ranger, a pinging noise starts mostly going up hill but also when accelerating. I've never noticed any decrease in power when this occurs nor does it seem to put any wear on anything. I could roll the windows down and turn the radio up but it doesn't solve the problem. It has 93,xxx miles on it and its my daily driver. Original plugs. I replaced the paper air filter with an OEM Spectre High Flow and I gained power and with this power gain the noise seems to occur more. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

well run some seafoam through it and tune it up...you have carbon build up in your cylinders

What he said, seafoam and tune up.

Go for Motorcraft plugs.

2001 2.5L here and I experience the same thing. I have installed new plugs and wires, cleaned EGR (new gasket) and EGR tube. Have also ran techron in the gas tank, seafoam through the break booster and cleaned the MAF.

I also do not notice any power loss and the MIL isn't lit up (also nothing pending).
