Every once and a while when I try to start my truck, it will turn of then sounds like it wants to start but kinda clunks then quits. I try to start it again and does the same thing. Third time it fires right up. Have never had a problem starting but will sometimes do this to me. It has happened in the past but has occurred more often within the last month. Any ideas? The truck has almost 170,000 miles on the 2.5L. Plugs are about 20,000 miles old. Never have had any mechanical work done to the engine. Didn't know if it was injectors maybe or what?

 

Have you checked the fuel pressure, kinda sounds like a leaking check valve in the pump and it takes that long to prime the fuel system. Next time maybe try some carb cleaner in the throttle body after 1st attempt and see what happens.

 

I'll have to check. I have the kit to do it. Do I check when its turning over? With just the ignition on? With it running?

Also, why kind of psi am I shooting for?

 

35-45 psi koeo, watch to see if pressure decreases with key off.
