Temperature Gauge

I would get an aftermarket mechanical temp gauge if you want accuracy. You could look for a plug in the block or head that goes into a water jacket and install and don't even worry about the factory stuff. a higher thermostat is a good idea, as is putting some cardboard in front of your radiator, if your engine isn't getting hot enough. Cardboard is a good one, cause you can remove it easily in the summer.

i actually just replaced my heat sensor and sending unit today with BWD parts, and my heat gauge works now!!! :D the old heat sensor was corroded as hell and gonked up with carbon and gas and all that nice stuff and the sending unit was just a little corroded, not too bad, i think that's it may even possibly be a reason behind my bad gas mileage.
So justin, id check the heat sensor and the wire, you could posslibly even see how the colant looks, i also replaced mine (agian) in the process.

Sometimes its the Needles inside the instrument Cluster it slips. I changed my needles from the stock white to the red ones from a crown Victoria. I just had to move each one by hand to dial it in. My temp gauge is actin up right now, and I don't feel like opening up the cluster again. I was just thinking about putting a gauge pod with the temp engine gauge in my truck to fix the problem but never did it before.
My question Is what size fitting do I get for the temp engine gauge( the fitting is already mounted to the gauge right?. what size will fit my engine. My truck is a 2002 ranger xlt 4.0 auto. and where does it connect to? have a pic where it connects to?-thanks
