Will This Work?

I have a 86 ranger and i blew the motor with nitrous. I planned on doin a 2.3L turbo swap but due to money and time i am unable to do this. I want to just replace the old 2.3L and found one with 8700 miles on it but its in a 2000 ranger. My question is will this motor from the 2000 ranger work in my 86? and if not y.

as long as it fits and you got ALL the wiring harness and the PCM I dont see why not. Going to have to do some modification, but hopefully someone with more experience will chime in.

yea, you'll need the harness and ecu since your going from obdI to obd II. i dont see why not, if you can got form new to old, y not old to new. just make sure you use all the mounts and everything from the 2000 block, like alt bracket, ps bracket. you might have to use the engine mounts from your, 86 though, im not 100% on this though.

whatd you blow on the old engine, it might actually be easier in the long run to just repair the 86, then you can do a complete build on the '00, unless you already built the '00 engine, like rods, pistons, etc.

I blew the head gasket, took a chunk out of the 3rd piston back and cracked the cylinder wall lol.
