2 inch suspension cheapo lift

2 inch coil spacer up front
Ford Ranger 2" Front Spacer Lift Kit 2WD 1998-2007 -- Fat Bob's Garage Online Store
2 inch lift blocks in the rear
Lift Blocks - 2" cast iron lift blocks - pair

I think I can pull it off with just a socket set and coil spring compressors. I don't think I need bigger U-joints. I know I can run stock shocks. I think I am good on stabilizer bar links.

What do you all think?

By the way, while I'm in there I am replacing on the links and an inner tie rod that I bent during a little road rage last year. What size wrench do I need for inner tie rod and how do I get that the outer tie rod off. It's all a rusty mess. Torch?

Only thing I can say is these are way cheaper and easier than a body lift. And I don't see where he said anything about stacking blocks?

spacer lift is fine just make sure there ductile iron or steel, stay away from plastic and aluminum. rear blocks are fine ford even uses them stock on 4x4's

Oh yeah, OP, I wouldn't use those parts in the links you posted. Use these front spacers. Don't run the 3" though, use the middle, the 1705's. And I would prolly just do shackles instead. They're easier to install, normally cheaper, and a lil better for your truck. Also you would most likely need longer ubolts for the blocks.

Ok the shackles you posted are lowering shackles.

And the bid for those spacers expired yesterday.

Good job.

BTW I am not stacking blocks. It is a solid 2 inch block. I am not doing a BL. Too much work. No go with my rust belt vehicle.

I might do a BL later but I did get all my suspension lift stuff the other day. Spacers, coil spring compressors, and rear blocks. If the rear still sags I'm gonna do leaf spring helpers.

BL new is like $280 from Summit. Used I am nervous about. Missing parts FTW.

Actually suspension lifts are safer and better for your vehicle then body lifts because you don't get body roll or strain any lines or hoses. It just moves the wheels down instead of the body and all of it's componets up. Seems like the better choice to me.

Not safer by any means - CoG is affected heavily when doing suspension lifts - along with the stress of the actual Shock Absorbers, they are constantly extended and can max out/break if rough-playing and you havent bought new ones to compensate for the extra few inches.

A Body Lift really doesn't put any strain on any of the vehicles parts - and when doing engine work, those extra few inches are an insane amount of gain in extra room to work with for your hands and tools

Lift Shackles will be better for your truck then blocks, Blocks can some times lead to the axle flexing and thats a bad thing. Also by doing your suspension like you are you will gain more ground clearence than you would with a Body lift, so If I were you I would go with the Lift shackles and coil spacers up front and then later maby look at a 2 inch body lift for a lil more clearence for bigger tires but I wouldnt go any higher than 3 inches of Body lift IF you do decide to do that. I use to have a 95 Explorer that I did a TT on the front and a Shackle in the back and got a full 2 inches of lift out of it when I was done, When I parked next to other you could notice the diffrence in ground clearence under between mine and the other explorers. I also put on 31inch Buckshot Mudder XMTs and with that lil bit of a lift diffrence made a diffrence offroading. I guess what Im saying is that if you actually plan on offroading your truck, do the coil spacer and Shackle lift before you do a body lift, a body lift will give you no more ground clearence than stock because all your doing is lifting your body higher off the frame. Hope this advise helps some if not , then o well lol.

^ a body lift it's self doesn't gain more ground clearance but makes more room for bigger tires causing ur ground clearance to increase

i put on my body lift and it does nothing to body roll. it made the rear end lighter, but a suspension lift will add more countersteer which is a PITA

it does affect your CoG or center of gravity. you are raising it with a BL. the truck is now sitting 3" higher then it was before. this affects your roll in a turn, affects vehicles when on a slope or tilted to one side.

downey, how would shackels, blocks or spacers ruin a trucks' ride? the manufacturer put's shackels and blocks on trucks already. all a person is doing is putting longer shackels and taller blocks on.
as for spacers, they seem to be working fine on the new f-150s.
