Ok. I'm getting Bilstein's for my truck. 100k, it should get new shocks anyway and I figured might as well get good ones. Anyway, should I simply get the stock replacements that Bilstein offers for the Ranger?

Or would I be better off going with something like what rwenzing did and do a custom mod of something like a 7100?

A couple notes. I plan on lifting this truck more later on down the road (a year or so once I get a new Daily Driver). However, I am always open for something that will make me learn something new, i.e. doing a custom mod on as long as I have the tools to do it.

Yes I off-road, however, it is usually about once every month or two as the office keeps me pretty busy for the most part. I'm leaning towards just the stock replacements even though they aren't quite as good simply becasue it's easier and cheaper and I will be getting a much bigger and better suspension later. Anyway, I figured I'd ask you guys for some opinions. The 7100's don't appear that much more expensive, so is it worth it?

 

The 7100 reservoir shocks are about 3 times as expensive as the Level II type replacement shocks. Actually, the stock replacement type Bilsteins are quite good and they're 100 times easier to install than the 7100s. Chances are that you would have to change the shocks again anyway if/when you lift it.

 

i agree. if youre gonna lift it later, you will probly be replacin the shocks again at that point. if youve got the coin to drop on LVLII bilstiens go for it. IMO, id get regular some stock replacements and save the cash for the lift.

definately dont worry about 7100's till you know how much lift you will have. i would only wanna buy those once.

just sand'em down and spray paint them with some black rustolium thats what i did

 

personally if you plan on lifting agian just get like some procomp shocks or some lower end ranchro's dont see the point wasting the $, I love my Skyjacker shocks but idk if they make for the newer trucks...
