The Best Way To Lift The Rear??????

whats the best way to lift the rear of my truck

I am thinking of leveling my truck and dont know what way to go. I had blocks on my last truck but dont know if that is the best way. I dont want to have axle wrap.

I saw thas some people have used lowering shackles to lift the rear, is that a good way to lift it??

The best method is lift springs. Replace the entire leaf pack with a new one. Not a popular method because of cost. Blocks, add-a-leafs are shackles are the most common methods because they are cheap and easy.

chevy half ton springs from a JY and belltech 6400 shackles. it will give you about 4" of lift, a better ride, more flex, and costs under $100.

you just have to flip the rear mount (the one that mounts to the shackles)

no, you have to move the front hangers 6" forward on the frame. not that hard. took me about 6 hours total.

I dont recommend getting add-a-leafs. Did it to mine and they said I would get about 1-1.5'' of lift but I got more in the area of 3-4'' of lift. I had to get some new torsion keys because the front was already cranked down and it was squatting badly in the front. Even still I have to put sand bags in the rear just to keep it down...The easiest and cheapest would be to get a set of blocks and new U-bolts. Takes 15 minutes to do.

Ok IMO bigger blocks is the worst and most unsafe idea out there. IMO you should never stock blocks on top of blocks or put in a block that is like 5 inch tall. bigger blocks will give you more axle wrap and i have seen those taller blocks roll around turns and the ubolts bend and make it not drive able. so plz stop saying getting bigger blocks its a cheap unsafe cop out IMO.

back on subject i think if you found some explorer leaf springs and shackles you should level out your truck very easy and for pretty cheap.

As long as you use steel blocks and not aluminum theres nothing wrong with stacking them. Its not like a Ranger makes enough power to twist the axle out anyway.

idk...I don't think I would trust two pieces of metal just sitting together no matter how tight you can get those ubolts. Unless I had them welded together I wouldn't trust them. and they do break regardless of what they're made of. And those U-bolts can only handle so much, so again...probably not the best idea

For raising my rear I'm looking at going with explorer leaf springs (from a junk yard) and/or shackles. That seems to be an extremely easy way and not too hard on the wallet. I'm still trying to figure out which rating sportrac explorer leaf springs to get though. car-part.com has 7 ratings for their leafsprings to pick from. the codes they have are: 1, 2, 3, U, H, F and L. I am still leaving open the option of an AAL.

but Lucas, since youve got the prerunner look, you may want to go with that spring swap and shackle flip. you should check around for just the spring swap if you only want lift and don't need the extra wheel travel.

i'm guessing that the 1 code is gonna be the same for the keys, it's used for the towing package. i realize that your truck is older and i'm just taking a guess on 1 being the stiffest and 3 not so much. as for U,H,F,L i got nothing.

lets see if one of the experienced guys will chime in about this.
