Bilstein 5100 shocks for 00' 4x4 front

Ok this isn't the usual what shocks fit my truck? :-)
I have a 00' 4.0L 4x4 extra cab Ranger, going to crank the torsion bars to level it. I want to use Bilstein 5100 shocks front & rear. I understand Bilstien doesn't make a 5100 shock the correct length for a non-lifted truck. So I will use the ones that are for lifted trucks and either use limit straps or raise the upper shock mount.

So couple questions,
Would using limit straps work? Thinking that the upper travel will be limited by the bump stops and the limit straps will take case of the down travel.
Or would I be better off raising the upper shock mounts so won't limit the upper travel because using longer travel shocks the compressed length will be longer?

Kind of thinking that welding higher shock mounts would let me adjust the shock travel to get the most upper and lower travel with out exceeding the stock suspension travel limits.

I'm not wanting to have more travel than the stock suspension is set up for, but want to use Bilstein 5100 shocks in the front and they don't make the 5100 in the length needed, but do make 5100 for lifted suspension fronts.

Cheers, Allen
