Coil swap for my Edge? Possible?

Well I finally gots the cash to lower the God-forsaken thing, but after thinking about getting bags for a few months I think I changed my mind. My question is:

how difficult would it be to put coils up front? Would it be possible to swap the front ends of a non-torsion bar Ranger onto my Edge. That would leave me with the possibility of getting a lowering kit, rather than expensive not-worth it airbags. I have the money for a local shop to get this done, but I just need to to if it is at all possible.

Anything can be done with enough time and money but this wouldn't be a bolt on. The torsion bar and coil trucks have different frames.

yea i agree anything can be done but an edge has a totally different setup than the regular 2wd trucks so i guess either be happy with a small lowering kit or explore more options

i agree with them.

your easiest bet would be to make your own set of arms and coil buckets or whatever else you needed/ wanted. come to think of it, you'd probably only need lower a-arms (+ others) as you're probably not gonna be putting a lowered truck through a whole lot of suspension beating...

shouldnt be too bad if you've got a good fab guy

Really all you need is a custom upper arm that will clear the coil on a coilover, a normal shockmount on the lower arm, and add a normal shockmount to the top of the shock tower.

well, that and a pair of coilovers and a few sets of springs to make sure you have the right spring rate.

Take a look at the Camburg 6.0 setup and that's basically what you want, but for a lowered application. The camburg 6.0 kit only runs 1500 bucks for parts, and you get a new spindle, upper arm, bilstien shock, limiting strap, brakelines and NO BALLJOINT up top!

I talked to a guy at a off-road shop yesterday. Builds rock crawlers and stuff so he is pretty reliable. Also recently started working on hot-rods.

He took a look at things and said he could DEFINITELY take on a project like mine. He'll flip the rear and throw on some coilovers up front, but that's really all the details I have about it right now. He got very busy while I was there and before he started to take measurements, I had to run to Nashville so I didn't get time to talk to him. I'll be going back tomorrow though, hopefully. Maybe this could be 2ranger2's "front coilover" thread.

It may be a while, the shop is backed up until May something so I don't know when he can actually get my truck in. I talk to him today to finalize things.

May 15th is the day my truck goes in for work. Custom coilover set-up up front, flip kit in the rear. Details to come later.
