Do you have a website for them?

Edit: I just went there but it's got adobe on it and my phone can't view it. I'll Check them out later on my laptop.

Yeah, it's www.strangeeng.net
They've been around for a long time. One thing they make that's probably of interest to some here are aluminum diff covers, gear sets, LS units, and lockers for the 8.8's in 28 and 31 spline.

Extended eyelets? My brain isn't grasping an "extended eyelet", 'cept for the rod-end on the shock-rod -- those are available in all kinds'a crazy lengths from Fox and other manufacturers.

Just wonderin' - no biggie.

Yes, extended eyelets are the rod ends. I'm not sure if the Fox ones have the same thread as the Strange ones, but I don't think they do. It's something I'll look into.

RLong31 10-14-2011 12:30 PM

I'd definitely be interested in the brackets/hardware kit for now, and will just hang on to them for a while... will probably do the coilovers when I have more cash.

morris 10-14-2011 06:51 PM

If they are familiar w/ the 8.8 and ford parts, that would be a plus.

Scott B. 10-16-2011 07:12 AM

I'm in for a set of brackets. Coilovers at a later date...

weldoda 10-16-2011 09:49 PM

I'm definitely down for the bracket kit. Do you know how the pricing compares between Strange and Fox or King by any chance? I know they make good quality stuff, just wondering about prices if you had them.

cmstillwell67 10-18-2011 03:14 PM

I would be interested in a complete kit. Thanks for the effort you have put into this.

ME00Stepside 10-18-2011 05:01 PM

Update: dropped the plates off to be welded today. Hopefully I will have them back by the weekend.

However, my extended rod ends, while having a perfect fit, will not work for me. The issue is that they only leave about 1" of compression travel in the shock once the coilovers are installed and set at ride height. (I checked this by lowering the truck off the jacks and mocking up the shocks without the springs on them). So...I need to make another set of ends with a little over 1" of extension.

Hopefully I'll have the pricing wrapped up this week, too.

Isnt working all the little bugs out so fun lol?

Much respect for doing all the work tho, without it, it probably wouldnt be done. Its alot of worth but someone has to do it all to have new things.

cchsbuzz19 10-19-2011 03:35 PM

I've been checking in on this thread every now and then, and I don't think I've mentioned that I am as well interested! Just waiting to see the final price haha. I also applaud your efforts with this man.

MaxValle 10-19-2011 07:39 PM

it seems to me like the size of coil over plays a big part in all of this. now ive read each and every coilover thread to try and find specific sizes, but there really hasnt been a straight forward answer.

so, what would be an ideal sized coil over for stock height? and for superlifted trucks?
the more deatils, the better

thanks

weldoda 10-19-2011 09:35 PM

Glad you're getting all the kinks worked out in this plan, and again many thanks for doing all this leg work and research to help the hungry masses.

I thought I posted most of this information in this thread: https://www.ranger-forums.com/showth...adness+madness

Superlifted Truck (Confirmed via PM this setup works 100%):

Stock Height Truck (Need to confirm, but this is the obvious setup based on the above working - and knowing that people have installed Fox CO's on stock setup's before):

Of course, part #'s will vary depending on the desired spring rates. Also the Fox part #'s will vary depending on the body finish (cadmium versus upgraded chrome), as well as body color (blue versus black - but I don't think you can get the blue anymore). Tons of info on Fox shocks (Extended/Collapsed Info as well): http://www.off-roadproducts.com/FOX08Coilover.htm

This "list" pertains only to the actual springs & CO's...you will need many other parts to perform the conversion (most are listed and/or discussed here or in the other threads). I have no doubt that once "ME00Stepside" has the details worked out on his "package" he will have full details of what's included and all that good stuff!

I’ve done tons of research on this conversion (mostly using Fox brand CO's), as well as helped people get measurements off the original brackets and components I purchased new last year to assist in the “re-production” efforts (Again here is a good research thread for those that haven't clicked it yet: https://www.ranger-forums.com/showth...adness+madness). I purchased everything above for my stock height truck…but I haven’t been able to toss everything under the truck yet…but if I wasn’t confident about my research & information I have gotten from my dealers I wouldn’t have “risked” almost $1,500.

Also, when I purchased my Fox coilovers, they were custom valved by the dealer to match the usage. A benefit of Fox CO’s – and good dealers do this for free & won’t sell them without it being done....I think that's VERY important as it can change everything about how the shock "rides". He asked me many questions about the usage in order to dial it in correctly (type of truck, on-road versus off-road usage, high-speed or low-speed. etc.).

Great info! if you happen to have specs for limit straps you should throw that up as well!

                  great info!

another question: is it possible to use the fox remote shocks instead of the emulsion? all the specs and sizes are the same. i really want that resoir lol

Yep, I remember seeing pictures of someone’s setup using them. Just have to mount the reservoir nearby. Other than that, it would all be the same!

That depends on how and where a person mounts them.

i'm new on here but i've been dreaming of getting rid of my torsion bars for so long. i'd be interested in the brackets for now, can't wait to see final pricing.

                  update? how we lookin?

                  ME00Stepside 10-25-2011 10:19 AM

Hey guys. No news right now. I am waiting on another set of extended rod ends (shorter than the first set), and getting the plates back from the welder. I've been crazy busy over the last week, and I'm going to be gone this weekend, so I'm not sure I'll be able to get everything installed for another week, but when I get the parts back, I'll at least post up some completed pics. I also haven't gotten any pricing yet. I need to stop by the place that'll most likely be doing the powdercoating to get a quote from them, and I'm still waiting on the final pricing from the welder.

logan03CO, that's definitely a good start for people to decide what shocks & springs to buy. Thanks for posting that here. Once I get this stuff done, I'll take some time to gather information on more brands and post it here. This way, people will be able to compare their choices.

Any idea of when youll have them good to ship? month or two? just trying to plan this out financially.

When I get the pricing all together, I'll have that info, but I'm shooting for having them ready some time in December. We've got all the jigs made for bending and assembly, so it's pretty straight for ward. I need to just figure out timing with the welder and the powdercoating shop to get a total time. It also depends on how many get ordered.

Picking up the brackets today. Unfortunately I have to wait longer on my new rod ends. Hoping to have those Friday. I'll post up pics of the brackets when I have them.
