Yep, some xj's and all tj's use them as well. Much stronger than the 260X's the yj's used.

btw you wont find much of anything that will be close to the same width as our trucks... the ranger is 59" disc to disc and most jeep axles are 62"
hey zach, the newer Wrangler Rubicon's have Dana 44's up front with a 5x4.5 lug pattern.....

Steve......i would go with the same axle that Zach is putting under his truck......follow his thread since he is starting on his very soon and copy what he does....he is even got it broke out into what parts and prices you need in that list he made (on page 4 i think..)

The only wranglers that come with 44's in the front are the rubicon models. 03 and on if I remember right.

They are a pretty hot on the market because they come with selectable lockers from the factory.

Ive heard they are junk. still not really like those D44 like the waggy had and bronco/f150 and all..

well not junk but not that much stronger than the D30... something had to do with the ring and pinion and the bearings...

yea, I dont remember the details of why but they are weaker, especially with the lockers putting extra stress on it. They might even be the aluminum versions.

THe unlimited non rubicon wranglers had a rear d44 but not a front d44, the Rubicon is the only wrangler to get the front D44. But its been covered alot that the only thing that is better on the rubi d44's is the center section. The outers and everything are straight off the dana 30. and even the center is not a true d44 center as it takes special Rubicon D44 gear sets
