Weird noise coming from the right side PLEASE HELP:(
I have a 2008 ranger and I just put 07 gt wheels on it with thin spacers to clear the brake lines from rubbing. Now when ever I move the wheels slightly left or slightly right I hear a short noise. It sounds like If someone was to lightly hit a bass drum once. If i were to guess i would say it sounds like pressure or something. Any help will be greatly appreciated
thank you,
Scott

so me and my buddy checked it out again and traced it to the air box. I took the air box off and left the truck on and turned the wheels again and found out it was coming from the intake. My guess is that the engine is compensating for the wider sticker wheels cause the power steering is working harder. Any thoughts or comments will be appreciated

The only thing on the wheels that could do this is a clip or dirt between the rim/spacer/rotor and not allowing everything to sit right.
Take off the wheels and see if the spacers sit properly on the Rotor; flat nothing in the way around the studs, like a clip or crud build up.
check the spacers for flatness and clean them up and then look at the rims and do the same.
If not the wheel area and it turns out to be the pwr steering pump check for loose mounting of the pump, it is hard to believe the pump moved that much to hit the air box and cause the thunk without being loose.

the only thing that has been done in the engine is a k&n drop in air filter, so its bone stock I just wanted to keep my warranty so I left it stock for now. I had another question when I turn my wheels all the way left or right when backing up it rubs a little bit. If I bought larger spacers do yall think this would be eliminated?

The further you push the wheels outward the more chance of rubbing; the arch of the wheel increases as the wheel moves outward. Wider rims (10") would do the same thing.
Jacking the truck up would move the tire away from the fender enough to clear the wider track of the wheels.
You would have to remove the spacers in order to get them to stop rubbing. maybe if they come in enough and that is based on the back spacing of the rim... I think OEM is around 3 5/8" and you can get away with 4" again guessing.
What are the specs on the Cobra wheels, width/back spacing ?

Wait a sec.....tire was rubbing the inner fender correct? NOT the intake? Intake is ABOVE an inner fender. I don't see how the hell you're rubbing anything considering my little brother is running stock stang wheels on stock sized stang rubber....and he's SLAMMED. He was running spacers to clear the hub through the wheel at one point. But those '05+ stang wheels people usually don't run...they do require a pretty decent spacer to run 'em on 98+ coilspring 2wd's.

if its the rubber part of the hose go to lowes or home depot and get 2 little springs, zip tie one end to the brake line, and another one on whatever u got to attach it to, but keep it tight...i had to do that one my jeep because my brakelines were too long

I think the factory lower control arm is larger than the aftermarket ones that come with the lowering kits. I solved the problem by adding larger spacers. The wheels no longer rub anymore. The noise that is coming from the intake happens from when ever a am sitting still and I try to turn the wheels left or right it makes a quick sound. I think that it is the computer telling the intake to suck in more air to compensate for the stress being put on the power steering pump so the the engine doesnt stall. I just dont remember hearing the sound before I put the wheels on. the wheels came with brand new pirellis and the are very sticky so maybe that is the contributing factor. i hope this clears up any confusion.
