Help convince me that I am right

I am going to adjust my t-bars and hopefully pick up some chevy drop shackles tomorrow. My neighbor saw me laying under my truck and asked if I broke it already ( I bought it april 18th ) I explained to him my plans and he asked why I didn't just get the adjustable shackles from autozone:

http://www.autozone.com/R,NONAPP913/...ductDetail.htm

I explained that they appered way to flimsy and he countered with "We used these on the muscle cars and they weighed a lot more in the back then this little truck."
I believe I am right but his comment stuck with me.
So, reassure me, why can't I use these universal shackles?
Cheers
Cooper

If they were a lil more re-enforced I'd probably think about putting them on my truck if I were you... if you can fab something up to make them stronger with some xmembers or something like that then I think you'll be just fine, remember rangers only weigh (for the most part) about 4400lbs

im suprised no one said this..

those wont work with Ranger leaf springs and hangers.

This is a ranger lifting shackle

notice its open on one end and tube at the other? Thats because it mounts on a hanger that requires a tube cross section.

I know my explorer shackles are similar to the universal, and Id assume those "muscle cars" are the same. But thats because theres no rear Hangers, it mounts on the frame itself
