Dude, seriously, I'm running a 29" tire with a 4" drop with no real problems, and If I ran a 28" tire, I wouldn't ever rub. the only time I get any contact is when I'm almost bottomed out. A 26" tire just doesn't fill the wheel well enough, IMO. The SLA rangers don't have quite as much issue with rub as the TIB trucks from what I've seen.

Edit: Brain fart, I screwed up my math, My tires ar 27" tall. my apologies for doubting you Mark. Still stock size tire fits well.

i have done measurements with the tires i am running, and it would put the top of the wheel wells about 1/2 on top of the tires

this is what i'm running... 225/60/16's with a 2/2 drop already

 

I'm running 235/55 17s, and they fit pretty good.


And I can still stuff it!




And yeah, a 1.25" front sway bar and a Exploder rear bar combines with lower CG, and an aggressive alignment, yeah, it handles pretty good.

 

are you running the full 5" drop in the rear?

 

I was running the flip kit for 5", but I'm now running the Expo 8.8, so yeah, still 5". If you measure, my rear fenders are 1/2" higher than my fronts. Gives it the perfect stance.

 

Its cool I ran stock size tires for 2 years and they rubbed like no other but I also was an extended cab v6 which drops about an inch or so lower than a reg cab. But I have also heard other people with the same drop rubbing on the stockers.

I ran 235/45/17 with not a single rub.

 

Yeah, the rims I'm running came with 205/40 17s on 'em, and those were just tooooo small!

Calmax drop shocks for the front, Toxic drop shocks for the rear. I would recommend something a little softer though, these are kinda stiff. I've heard good things about the Beltech Nitro drop shocks, I may be switching to those.

 

right now i am still running the stock shocks, and it gives a really nice ride, and hoping to retain ride quality

 

ive got ground forces in the back and toxics in the front.
the toxics are a little stiff tho like john said..

john, take your shock money, and get your frikin truck tinted!

 

Calmax Drop shocks ARE Toxic shocks, just a different name djm put on it. Belltechs are great shocks to.

For a stock ride in the back I would recommend early 90's nissan hardbody shocks if your running a flipkit they fit on our trucks perfect with a 5 inch drop.

I had toxics, hell its a lowered truck obviously its going to ride stiff esp when I drove with the axle on the frame with bumpstops removed..
