king suspension

Not your bro. The Honda thread made me upset as well, because we built a quality stock mini vehicle that could out do any truck on here (with exception of 4), regardless of looks or brand name. We probably said some stupid stuff, yeah, but let bigons be bigons, don't go looking for a fight. I'm only defending him because he's been a great friend to me and I don't like seeing this, it gets repetitive. I'd come to your defense if someone attacked you for no reason (believe it or not) as well as long as you have information backing up your statements and can justify your positions. :)
Edit: Thought you were talking about the Ridgeline thread, I have no idea what the other Honda thread was/is about, my bad.

so fabtech is more of a light offroading company to make you look good
but looking at the camburg systems, $2400 installed for the dualshock front end seems not too bad. then you just need wheels and tires and a small lift in the back to match it up i believe.
and i PMed gatorblue about his truck because its basically my truck, same engine, tranny, and everything just a year older.
said i could do that with tires for $1200
id like that, then i can move up from there the way i see it.(sell spindles and replace with camburg...)
what do you think besides the purist that says go for the "expensive now-cheap later" approach ??
no offense meant DrivAPrerunner-your feedback is valuable.
thanks for all the feedback guys.

If you want to use the truck and have it last, just save up for a bit longer and do it right the first time, it will save money, I promise you. Most people hate hearing that and don't do it only to wish they had in the first place (including me). I'm just giving my advice based off of experience, what you do is completely up to you. Just remember that you do get what you pay for.

I've never had first hand experience with the Camburg kit, but I've never read anything bad from people who have it and some people romp on it pretty dang hard! Its bookoos better than the Fabtech stuff. Fabtech stuff isnt really meant to be used, but the Camburg stuff is.
#32
if i remember right alon had the camburg dual set up on his ranger then took it off for fabtech spindles. maybe he didnt have the dual shock. i would look but i have to get back to work. maybe on my next break.

at the risk of everyone crying about me thread crappin(i really dont care, cry if you want to), i jus cannot resist this.
id be interested to know which 4 trucks on the whole of RF you think are more capable than that ridgeline. list them please.
im also curious as to what type of offroading you think the Honda would be superior for. are we talkin about all types of off road adventures, or jus the ones you like?
i cant imagine you would truly believe that "truck" could perform better than griggs, or bryanjints in the water crossings of wharton.
surely you cant think a stock mini-anything w/a cage and some new shocks could out perform l2en, casfz1, or even my own truck in the woods of the midwest.
what about any of the (complete)SAS'd trucks on RF?
FL mud?
please, enlighten me

well, im not sure if it was touched base or not, but WHAT DO YOU WANT OUT OF YOUR SUSPENSION?
LOOKS/STREET
SAND DUNE PERFORMANCE
MUD PERFORMANCE
ROCK CRAWLING
CHEAP
BRAGGING RIGHTS (most money spent)
My Best advice, get what you can AFFORD! Dont spend ALL of your money on a top dollar lift, untill you HAVE the money to spare and KNOW thats what you want. I like the idea of people starting small, and working their way up, unless they know EXACTLY what they want
According to your previous response you said:
So why is people telling him to go all out? Let the kid get used to his truck lifted and see what he likes first. Just because hes in cali doesn't mean he needs desert suspension lift. I don't understand why people need the big dollar lifts when a budget lift would work for what he wants.
So if you plan light offroading, id look into a spindle lift from fabtech. And unless you plan to upgrade to a desert prerunner lift in the future, id look into a body lift because its cheap, easy, and WORKS. However id advise not to jump a truck with a bodylift, even though its been done before

if it were me in your position this is what i would do- i would just get spindles, some bilsteins and a locker. thats more then enough to have a good time, keep you going, and it would be fairly inexpensive.

2) Jason's
3) Jason's
4) Goose
(If you don't know who owns number 1 and 4 then don't bother adressing them)
The Ridgeline was built for the desert, thus is the terrain I'm speaking of, if you got anything else out of my post then you're reading WAY between the lines, bud. The Ridgeline is 4wd, has custom-built suspension from Brett at King himself, was built by some of the best names in the business (Skilton, Honda Racing Development) with TMR doing the main part of the work, and that includes Alon and I from this site. It has a full chromo cage and reinforced pretty much everything. Even if you wanted to take your high and mighty SAS's (and I'm speaking lightly so don't take it to the heart) against it or put it in the mud it could and would give those types of trucks a run at it as well. Lets be honest, I don't even see the SAS trucks on this site doing anything too extreme, so don't start holding my claims against the vehicles of such as Shannon Campbell or Ned Bacon. I was adressing a single form of offroading, which was understood by other people posting in this, yet you have broadened my discussion to be inclusive of things I'm clearly not speaking about. I could care less about the water crossings of Wharton or the FL mud, if someone on here has a vehicle capable of that then that is great, more power to them.
As for the quotations on the word truck, you're clearly mistaken as well. Call it a car, suv, little tikes, playschool, whatever you want, but that "truck" performs better than a ton of other stock mini class "trucks." I'm sick of people with bumpers and white fenders insulting our work especially when it could eat your catalytic converters for breakfast.
So please, enlighten me . . .

dont get all bunched up. i was jus lookin for some clarification on your broad stamement.
i was referring to the "stock" truck from the oh so debated thread you referenced. not one with a custom built suspension.
FWIW, i never insulted the ridgeline, nor your involvement with it. my fenders are not 'glass and stayed white because thats how i got them. i see no point in painting fenders that will jus get scratched in the woods.
and im not your "bud."

If you're going to involve yourself in an argument, don't come in being naive. The class rules allow modified suspension, so yeah I'm talking about the same truck, not two. Stock mini class doesn't mean it's a completely stock truck. They are one and the same.
I don't know what FWIW is supposed to mean, I guess I don't spend enough time on the interweb to know every abbreviation possible, but you just insulted our work in your previous post, pal.

so anyway...
the camburg kit with some deavers in the rear will be an awsome combo, you can limit strap the rear and run shorter shocks if you wish to not put in a bed cage, or get the correct extended legnth shocks and put in the bedcage to get full travel. thats the best sutup for the money that i know of, more ground clearance, more travel, wider stance and resonably priced..
compared to ANY "lift" kit that only gives you frame ground clearence due to drop down brakets. or body/spindle lift whitch gives you more ground clearence but no more travel..
and build it once, like previously said dont "settle" for the moment

Thank you, someone that has an idea.
Mostly right, just to clear some things up:
Only way to widen stance is a new rear end, spacers, or wider tires/rims, just a bedcage and smoothies/etc. won't widen your stance (rear). The front, as said above, CAN be widened with an actual suspension kit, but it varies based on kit (5.5/6.0 kits from Camburg are 1.5" wider each side, LT varies from 4- . . . " wider). If you go that route, you'll want to strap the rear (and front) regardless of shock size to prevent your droop from destroying your shocks. Good bumpstops are key as well to protect your truck against the other range of motion.

it all goes back to what you want to do with the truck. Lift spindles will do fine for trails/cruising around the desert... just dont be jumping and going crazy. Add a leafs in the back will compliment the spindles, and you can get it all new for under 800 or used for even less.
Going with camburg/deavers and some better shocks will run you close to the 3000 range easily, but you'll be able to go much faster, take some MINOR jumps and you should be ok.

these are both from the original thread.
if i am naive then so be it, but i based my QUESTIONS on your previous statements. i still dont see how askin for some clarification on a statement can be insulting, but since you are so defensive on the topic i will drop it.
have a good day!

You suck at offroading. Seriously. Drop out of the sport and enroll in an interior design course. when I was 16 and first got my license, I used to drive fast jumping little bumps. THEN I GREW UP.
