KYB Shock install Question

Hey guys, just a quick question about the installation of the KYB gas adjust shocks. The instructions are pretty useless.
Most other shocks i see have a built in nut to hold onto for removal while this one does not.
The kit comes with two nuts as seen below. Am i correct to assume that a nut goes in first all the way to the bottom fo the top shaft, then the other nut is for the top of the shaft?
I put the shock in already and didn't use the second nut and the top bushing is nice and compressed while the bottom isn't.
Just figured i'd ask and make sure before i take it all apart again. Thanks!

Install for the front shock is large washer goes on shaft first, then the rubber bushing, then thru the arm, and second bushing and then the second washer. Nut is tightened until the rubber bushings are squeezed to about the diameter of the washers. Second nut is an extra, but I always snug it down over the first nut as a type of "lock nut". There should be or usually is a "flat" at the very top of the shaft that is usually 1/4 inch at the flat. You use an open end 1/4 inch wrench to hold the shaft from turning while you remove the original nut.

Generic picture...top of shock shows proper orientation of washer and bushings with the a arm in-between the two bushings.
