leaf springs interchangeable?

leaf springs interchangeable?
i have a broken leaf spring on my drivers side that i'm looking to replace but i dont want to replace with another 96 spring. i'm just wondering if you can use newer leaf springs?

thanks RonD but how would i know what leaf spring to order is there a code on them that i would be able to find?

Ford seems to use a generic part number for Ranger leaf springs, 1L5Z5560CA
5560 is that number

Best bet would be to get Dealer to look up VIN and get a part number with that
