leveling my 90 Ranger

Hello, new here, I just purchased a VERY nice 1990 Ranger 2wd with the 6 ft. box. I would like recommendations for leveling the truck (lowering the rear) it looks like I need to come down about 2.5 to 3 inches. I am looking for safe reasonably priced ideas. Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum

Look at the rear axle's leaf springs and see if there is a Block between axle and spring, if so this can be removed on each side, you might need shorter U-bolts

I don't think removing this will work

No, that's not removeable. 4wd trucks had a factory lift block, but not the 2wd's. I'm not sure what to suggest here as I'm moving the other direction. Is a shorter shackle an option?

Flipping the rear hanger and shackle assembly might be the best option. Basically, support the frame and grind off the rivets holding the hangers into place. Flip the assembly, then reinstall using new hardware.

that looks like the only option, do you have an idea of about how much it will come down? Thanks

Based on this post on the linked thread, 2"or so.

well this appears like the only solution, thanks for all the help and information. This should all be about the same on my 1990.

For what it's worth, grinding those rivets off is probably a giant pain with the bed in place. You might consider pulling the bed to do the job.

I agree, the small amount of work to take the bed off would be worth it. Thanks

For what it's worth, if you have an engine hoist it really helps. I was able to pull mine off and on by myself using the hoist.
