Ranger vs s10 bed wieght

Me and a buddy went to home depot today to get some cement mix. I have a 2001 supercab step side with 4 inch lift(block) on stock leafs and my buddy's 2003 s10 x-cab with a 2 1/2 inch block on stock springs. We loaded 7 bags of 80 pound mix and that had his truck sagging pretty enough to not want to put anymore in. I proceded to load the rest in to my ranger witch was 13 bags and it was sitting just shy of level. Anyways my question is does the s10 have a conciderably lower max bed weight than that of the ranger or is it just because it's a ford

all has to do with the rate of the leaf springs...chevys have always had softer springs than fords did
