first off, stay in school......
if it's your truck do as you wish
to make grandpa happy make sure you save half the money you earn
it will take twice as long to build up the truck but hey you are only 16
besides - if they boot you out of the house you will have to pay rent and not have any money for modifications

haha i'm sure if you so desired, you could come up with items that your sister, and even your parents have bought that werent exactly *smart* purchases.

i don't think that lifting a truck/getting new wheels and tires/etc etc is over the top at all. everyone has their hobbies that they like to spend cash on. it's typical for people that are generally uninterested in cars to really care, or understand, imo.

Paintball isn't your life. Wouldn't you rather sell the paintball gun / equipment, lift your truck and take a bad @ss lookin truck to the sidelines of a paintball game?

yea you cant really have both with how much paintball costs... and im guessing (and hoping) you plya tourneys considering you have a 1200 gun so thats almost 200 a tourny... i used to play but got my prioties straight....

ill give you the same speech my brother gave me, if you invest to make your truck offroad capable, your investing in spending money on repairing the damage and for all the strain on all the parts... jsut read through some of the offroad trip threads and youll see what happens...

yeah... i went $2000 in debt to my parents for a leveling kit, some rims, and some tires. but in the end it was worth it, cause i love off-roading, even if my truck is a little on the whimpy side.

I have at least 8k in my truck right now, it's my money and I'll use it how I like it. Just tell them what I tell my parents (and yes I am honest about it too): be glad I have a hobby like this rather than drinking, driving, or something worse (which would end up costing you just as much or more, but you'd be a lot more f'ed up, haha).

Save your money, so one day when you are old and die, you have a whole lot of money left over that you never got to use.

I wanted my truck to have a solid front axle with 38's. I worked and bought everything I needed.

Why do you need to justify what you do to YOUR truck to your parents? Show them responsibility by earning/saving the money you need and putting it into what you love.

Hey, and ^^he didn't mention this, but he's only 19

I have spent about 1500 on mine so far, but I only have 860 worth on it right now. Just make sure what you buy is what you want. I say upgrade, upgrade, upgrade... I pay for everything, though, and my truck is about to be paid off. I only have a 2wd truck and haven't come close to breaking any stock parts yet and I like to play rough.

PS-- My friend has a couple guns laying around worth more than that... they are hella fun, too.

seriously, as long as your parents see that the money is not goign to waste, although they may say it is in their eyes, they be happy its not being spent on other stuff, such as illegal things, or dangerous ones. Im sure you mom wasnt to happy when you took up paintball, getting shot up all the time, spending tons of money on it. but if you as into it as you say you are, then shes come to accept it, right? she'll do the same with this.

i bought my truck, its in my name. I buy all my mods, fix it whenever i break it. Just because you offroad doesnt mean something will break. theres a higher probability, but a garuantee.
