not sure on lift
Looking around at buying a suspension lift for my 1996 ford ranger xlt 4x4. The 4" lifts say they will clear 31or 32" tires I'm wanting to run 33" maybe 35. What's the best lift for this would I have to go 6" or? 4" and a body lift? And if I go up to a 6" will I have to start doing any major changes? Its also a 5 speed I guess that would matter for a body lift. I need a good opinion

I have read posts that on-road driving with 4" lift and 33" is fine, off road is when you can get rubbing when turning and hitting bumps.
33x10.50x15 would be less likely to rub, the 12.5 width is when rubbing will happen.
A tire is 33" round but when you turn it and look at it from the side if is now closer to 38", so rubbing doesn't happen at the top of the wheel well, if you lift it, but at the front and back of the wheel well because dimensions haven changed there, still the same width.

Lift only gives you top of wheel well clearance, it doesn't change the width of the wheel well opening.
No issues with rear tires but when you turn the front tires they get wider that 33"
You can use spacers for frame rub but wheel well needs to be trimmed in most cases.
