Wheel Bearing won't fit on spindle

This truck has always been trouble for me, ever since I bought it from my neighbor a year ago or so. But I don't wanna get rid of it.
After hearing awful noises from the left front, I went and got everything needed for a wheel bearing repair.
Besides the inner wheel bearing coming out in literal pieces, which made it impossible to compare to the new one I bought.
Upon trying to fit the rotor with the greased bearing and seal, the assembly wouldn't go in far enough for the outer bearing.
I soon realized that the inner bearing simply couldn't fit all the way, I think.
The bearing stops at the first hard collar, and I'm fairly certain it should go further in,

When the inner bearing came apart, did you have all the pieces? From the Photo looks like there still a piece left behind.
I always test fit the new bearings to make sure they fit before packing them with grease.

RoseBud68 is correct there is a portion of the old bearing still on the spindle that needs to be removed.

Yep, part of the old bearing is still there. If it got hot enough and welded itself to the spindle, you're probably better off finding a replacement steering knuckle assembly. I think they make new aftermarket ones now, but can't speak to the quality.

When I was doing a front brake job on my 2003 Ranger 2WD I discovered damage to the spindles, yup both of them. One was scored so bad and the other had a cut length wise possibly having to cut a old bearing off of it.

I just can't stand half *** work and could not in good conscious put new bearings and seals and new rotors on something like that. I ended up shopping around and found a local dealer that will sell me new spindles at cost + 10% and since I had to also replace the ball joints I ended up replacing the upper control arms the spindles and lower ball joints.

Of course I discovered that the inner and outer tie rods were shot so those got replaced also. After a trip to the front end place I got an almost new truck again.

Good Luck, keep us posted of your progress.

Yep...The Snowball effect. You go to fix one think and them its the whole front end. That's what happened to me. Doing a 4" spindle drop turn into a whole new front end. Including the rack & pinion.
