fabtech spindle to heim joint conversion

I have a 97 explore w/ 3 inch fabtech spindle and want to build my own upper control arm w/ a mono ball. But here is my question does any one make a mono ball cup w/ a ball joint pin so I can still put the clench bolt back on to hold the cup???????

I was going to tap my spindle, then use a grade 8 bolt. Once the bolt was all the way in i was going to mark where the pinch bolt goes and notch the bolt. I know someone was looking into making a pin for that...I will see if anything came of it for you.

see i have heard of someone doing that but havent heard good, bad, or indifferent. I thought that because it is a cast spindle then it would b brittle to tap and die it.

are the spindles cast Iron or cast steel?

you could weld a strap and gusset if they are cast steel...

yes, it can be done. this is my setup, the bottom spacer you see is now cut in half and put above the uniball due to camber issues.[IMG][/IMG]

the one below it, and i had to put it above because the camber was really bad, and the arms were sitting at an odd angle. it was a grade 8 bolt, about 3/4" by 6 inches

it's holding up very well. I wouldn't jump it or anything like that, but for desert running it'll be fine. I've had it on for about 6 months or so.
