Backspacing and chipping?

Im getting some rims from a buddy and the rims have some pretty good backspacing(dont know what it is) but they stick out like quarter of an inch from the top of my flares. I drive on gravel quite a bit and im just wondering if im gonna have gravel pounding the s@#t out of my truck. Mudflaps are still on! (Debating on removing?)

actually it would be less.... the less the backspacing is the further they stickout. the more offset they have the more it sticks out.

as for the chipping depends on the tires and how much they pick up. otherwise it just comes with the territory of running wide wheels. mine is chipped it happens.
