Confused about Backspacing...

So I have been searching and searching for stuff on backspacing...I have found a lot but it is all just confusing the heck out of me. So I have purchased some 5-4.5 now does the 4.5 mean the backspacing??? Cause when i was searching some people had things typed as 5-4.5 with 3.75 backspacing. Which led me to believe that the 4.5 had nothing to do with the backspacing...somebody please help!!! I know i will probably get ripped a new one for posting more on backspacing...so I am prepared.
I am going to call the guy and see about switching if I need to...thanks

Alright sweet...that was exactly what i needed. So the 4.5 bolt pattern is the bolt circle diameter???

so i will probably have to go and measure the backspacing myself...

if your getting aftermarket wheels stick with a 3.75BS or 3.25 that will do just fine for you and look good

OHHH i read the thread wrong...yes the 4.5 means the circle the bolt pattern is on the 5 means how many holes and the 3.75 is the BS

Yea I already bought them...so I just had to go measure them...and then i realized i just had to read the side of the box and convert some mm to in. so it looks like I am good with a 3.25 backspacing...Thanks everyone!
