I have a 99 reg cab sidestep,stock ride height, 2wd, the tires that were on the truck when i bought it were bf goodrich radials, and small as hell. I don't know if the kid i bought it from thought they gave a lower profile, but on stock 15's? Ugh. Anyways, my occupation requires the use of my truck on the jobsite, day to day, and said jobsites are mudpits. I recently bought bf goodrich all terrain ko's, tire size 215 75r15. I wanted a 235 size tire, or at the least 225, but was told even 225's rub. I have looked on multiple ranger forums regarding tire clearance issues, and from what I got out of all of them is 235's shouldn't rub, I could even have gone to 245. So my question is basically was the salesman blowing smoke up my *** by selling me the 215's? I wanted something that looks a little beefier, and would fill the wells a little more, and I'm sort of pissed because I'm related to the salesman, and I don't wanna beef if he was right. Help!!!!

 

215 is small like a damn car tire. You can sure fit a 225 because that's stock and hell get some lift coils and add a leafs in the rear and you could be one 255s

ive seen as much as 245/75r16's on 2wd coil spring trucks without rub. But a 235/75R15 would be a perfect size

 

So 235/75R15 will fit with no rub at all? Thx again, i know i'm a noob haha

 

That'll fit fine... had that size on my old truck which had stock suspension!

 

I had 245/75r16's on my 2wd 98, no rub. also had 245/70r15 or something like that on my spare rims that fit fine.

 

Hey riversend did you bother to look at the sticker on the door/door jam on the drivers side for the size that came from the factory?

 

Ya i did, said sticker is gone. I went with the 235/75r15's with no trouble, thanks again for everybody's input!

 

You could have went with 30x9.50-15's and been ok. The 30's are just a little bigger. I had 30's on my stock 2wd ranger, no probs, and my mom has a new set of BFG AT KO's on her stock 2wd standard cab stepside, and she has no problems...

The guy that sold my mom the tires brought out both a 235 and a 30 for a side-by-side comparison and the 30 was just a little bit taller and a little bit wider.

I have since put a body lift on my 2wd and bought me some 31's, and I recently got a 95 4wd ranger that has 235's on it. Even though the 4wd is stock, it still looks pretty good with the 235's, and the 4wd is a standard cab stepside. I think you will be happy with the 235's...
