Front caliper wheel fit problem

Front caliper wheel fit problem
I have a 2003 4X4 ranger. I would like to put on 2WD Ranger Edge wheels. These wheels fit Ranger 4X4's 2002 and older without a problem. They are 15 inch. There was a change in 2003 to the rotor caliper and possibly the spindle. The I.D. of the wheel is not quite large enough. The wheel goes on about halfway down the lugs and begins to rub on the caliper. Factory 15 inch modular wheels fit from the FX4 so some 15 inch wheels will fit. Can I make a caliper change? Any help would be appreciated.

2003.5 and later 4x4 Rangers have 12" rotors (mid model year change from 11.28"). The factory 15" Alcoas on the FX4/Level II clear these but it is VERY tight. Many 15" aftermarket wheels will also clear 12" rotors/calipers due to internal contour and/or less backspacing. As you have discovered, the 15" cast aluminum 2WD Edge wheels do not fit 4x4 Rangers with 12" rotors.
It should be possible to change to the earlier 4x4 knuckle and the matching 11.28" rotors and then use the 2WD Edge wheels. Seems to me that it would be a lot easier to just source different wheels instead.

Don't know if you are still considering replacing the knuckles, but I have a pre-2003.5 or whatever it was (the smaller one) that was incorrectly installed on my 05 FX4. You can see it in some pics in this thread: https://www.ranger-forums.com/suspen...unckle-131466/
I don't need it anymore, and if you'd pay the shipping, you can have it. I'm tired of it sitting in my garage. It's only the front left, of course, but that gets you half way there. You'll be happy to know that everything else like the calipers, pads, hubs, etc... are all the same. The only pain the butt was getting the hub out, but even then if you follow the suggestion of putting the bolt in the back (see above thread) it wasn't too bad.
