Icon10 getting new rims and tires...question on backspacing

i will get paid this friday and am going to order up some rims and tires. i am thinking of going with 31x11.5 on 15x7 inch rims . i have a friend who has 32x11.5 on 15x8 on his lifted cherokee and they still rub on full turn and i told him he needs more backspacing. i was thinking of going with a 3.75 in. or a 4 in. backspace. what would you guys think. by the way they will be black powdercoated rockcrawler series 97 on pro comp at's. what are some good places online to get a good deal. i was going to use 4wheelparts but i would rather not if i could find something else

go with a 15x8 wheel with a 3.75 backspacing......that way if you ever want to go with wider tires you wont have to replace the wheels...

almost all 15x8's will come with a 3.73 backspacing.......that is what my 15x8's had and i was running 33x12.50x15's with no rubbing problems...

do you have an edge or xlt? 2wd or 4wd?

just the xlt 4x4 with the t-bar crank in order to level the truck. in that case i will look for the 32's thanks. what would be the advantage of going with a 3.75 in. backspace to a 4 in. or 4.5 inch? just the amount they stick out of the wheel wells? i will check this in ten min. before i go to work then i am afraid i might not be able to respond after that but will look. lets see how long my boss stays in his office

any good places to get tires cheap??? 4wheel parts wants 853 for the rims and tires and i cannot afford that. my limit is 600. what tires are good on road and off road for what i want. i probably wont be able to afford the pro comps. i need to travel to and fro. from santa fe to las cruces in new mexico for college which is about 4 hours or so...thanks for the replies...i am off to work but will keep checking but might not be able to reply.

3.75 is what you want.

4.0 or 4.5 will just shove the tire in more.

only way to stay under 600 is to buy used.

ah...i see so the higher the backspacing the farther in its tucked into the wells.. so if i went with a 3.50 for instance the tires would stick out a little more?
