Maximum tire size for 2008 ford ranger xlt 4x4

Maximum tire size for 2008 ford ranger xlt 4x4

I have a 2008 ford ranger xlt 4x4 and was wondering what is the maximum tire size I can put on my truck with out having to do a torsion bar lift or have any rubbing on the inside of my finder wells. I am still riding at factory height and have 15'' factory rims. If you could give the height and width of the tires that would really be helpful. Thanks.

Thanks for the chart. I think I will go with some narrow 32's if they don't rub. If they do rub I will go with some 31's that are wider than the 32's. If I do have to have a T-Bar crank will this affect my steering, control, or handling of the truck. Also I've heard that if you crank the T-Bar to much it is bad. What would be the maximum lift I could get out a T-Bar crank without damage to my truck.

The more you crank, the stiffer the ride will get. You won't do any damage to the truck at all but if you max them out, you'll add a bit more wear and tear to the front end components (ball joints, tie rods, shocks, etc.)

One bolt for the torsion bars (drivers side) will be turned more than the other to accommodate for the added weight on that side (battery, gas tank,) so just do equal turns on each side if/when you do the tbar crank.

The max lift you'll get is around 2 inches but that is at full crank.
Mine are maxed out

Thanks for the information. I will definitely crank mine at least 5 full rotations. What year ranger do you have because I know that the 06 and newer rangers have a lower stock height than say a 02, 03, 04. Also I was wondering where can I find finder flares that you would see of a FX4 Level II. My ranger is 2008 XLT 4x4 and I would like to add things to it to make it look like a FX4 Level II rather than shop around for another ranger FX4 Level II.

No problem man. I have a 2004 and you can try finding the flares at junkyards, craigslist, other members, Ford (expensive route), etc. You just need to keep an eye open everywhere.

I just swapped beds and front fenders with someone who didn't want fender flares and i did so it worked out for the both of us

Thanks again man. Judging by the picture your ranger looks good. I can't tell if it is a regular 4x4 or a FX4 Level II. What is the main difference between an FX4 Level II, a Sport 4x4, a Edge 4x4, and a regular 4x4? I was told that a FX4 and Sport 4x4 had more of the rugged stuff inside like hard floor liners instead of carpet. Just was wondering what your input is? Thanks.

All the trim levels are pretty much the same, there are just cosmetic differences.

FX4 Level II has a 31 spline rear axle with a torsen limited slip (some have rare twin sticks) and is the only trim model that has an actual drivetrain difference.

Most Edge models have vinyl floors, all edge models have color matched bumpers, valences, fender flares (if non stepside)

Some Sport 4x4's had vinyl and some also had the STX/Sport grille which is a hard to find OEM part.

Some rangers also came with a full length center console with a built in subwoofer in them etc.

I could keep going but there are a number of cosmetic differences that don't really matter lol.

Also, all 4.0L models had stiffer torsion bars than the 3.0L models

Thanks again man. You are right about the 4.0L models having a stiffer torsion bar because mine were extremely tight when I went to tighten my bolts. I had to get a cheater pipe to do the job. I also went down to my local tire dealership and got a good deal on some mud tires. I purchased four brand new Maxxis Mudder Buckshot 235x75x16 white wall tires and these tires look excellent on my black ranger. Here is a list of after market products I have on my 2008 XLT 4x4.

Kenwood Radio/MP3/CD player with USB and AUX ports.
Realtree Camouflage seat and steering wheel covers.
Tented windows down to 35%
Axis rain visors.
Chrome running boards. Not sure of brand.
ARE camper top with carpet head liner, LED strip down the center and doors on all sides
Maxxis Mudder Buckshot 235x75x16 mud tires.

The ride height was changed in 08.
