New Tires on the way....

275/60/17 Yokohama AVS S/T ..

Had them on the rear, when i had the lightning wheels, was very impressed with the look, and performance of these tires..

I have no clue as to why i made this thread, im just happy im getting new tires..

These tires will be babied.. Not like the Kumho's that now, are crap, and useless, thanks to my stupidity, i've learned my lesson, and will baby these tires..

Just wanted to share my happiness..

Heres a few, of what they look like..

I WANT THE LIGHTNING RIMS BACK. your truck will never be the same with out them :puppy_dog

Swoop1156 02-14-2005 09:23 PM

He didn't keep the lightning wheels because he was running an adapter that was very unsafe. He was mature about it and forefitted the look for safety.

I like the Yokohama AVS series of tires. They are built pretty well and aren't rated all that poorly from all the reviews I've read.

I personally like BFG tires, but I haven't heard anything about Yokohama that was negative.

TippnOver 02-14-2005 09:36 PM

the tires do look rather badass.....

i think its the bfg g-force? thas the name? eh...they're like half racin slick, half highway tire...cool lookin and popular in the import scene

TippnOver 02-14-2005 09:37 PM

how much of a spacer/adapter was he running?

gatorblue92 02-14-2005 09:44 PM

very nice choice... my roommate has something like those on his RSX and loves them... what wheels do you have on now by the way?

I am getting some BFG G-Force T/A KDW tires for my Mustang when I get home. Well, I am sure by the time I get home they will gave something new even.

I like Firestone and BFG the best.

I dont think those are the gforce tires, I think youre thinking of the BFG scorchers, those are popular with the joto ricers.

the BFG gfroces are good swoopie but which ones arre you talking about?? im not sure about the suffix. are they the ones with recatangular diagonal blocks, or are they the ones with a sort of squiggle diamond directionaly battern???

birdie2000 02-14-2005 10:43 PM

what size were the size of the tires on thos lightning wheels? i really like the look of them.

Well, the squiggle diamond butterfly looking pattern is called the KDW2, and are only offered in 'smaller' sizes. The KDW is still directional, but it is more of a traditional looking tire.

John Moorehead 02-14-2005 11:55 PM

The Scorchers, or the old ones at least, were the ones with the funky colored stripe on the tread, circling the tire. Ugly as hell and poor traction rating.....

BFG G-Force KD have a Khumo-ish look to them, nice agressive tread pattern.

KDW have the interlocking diamonds.....and one of the Drag Radial models has a diamond shaped pattern as well, but the diamonds are BIG.

My tires have Z treads on them.....I love them.....and a little yellow scorpion on the side, if little yellow scorpions are your thing.

Leo, I MISS THOSE LIGHTNING RIMS.....DAMMIT!!!! :drillserg

John Moorehead 02-15-2005 12:01 AM

Congrats Leo. Those tires looks mean. Cant wait to see them put on. Is that the same tire size you had before?

My friends mom's car got a set of the BFG KDW 2 when that tire first came out. It's such a crazy tread pattern.

FoMoCoFiddy 02-15-2005 09:17 AM

yea Chris , same tire size...

n3elz 02-15-2005 10:53 AM

Nice tires. Bad choice. Buy American. Enough said.

John Moorehead 02-15-2005 11:50 AM

Whaddabout Italian? :hump:

n3elz 02-15-2005 11:56 AM

What about jobs? Work hasn't been exactly easy to find for some folks. Wouldn't it be nice if there were more high-paid manufacturing jobs around? I thought Leo would get that more than most.

You CAN'T buy domestic on some items -- we don't make them anymore. Buy foreign and you are helping to make that a reality in other goods.

It's NOT government, or tariffs, or whatever, that drives jobs offshore: it's people in this country CLAMORING for anything imported, at low prices. "Oh, but it's better quality!" -- just justifying your own desires, not a serious argument for destroying American jobs.

And that's my last post on this in this topic. Either you get or you don't.

Like I said: good tires, bad choice to my mind.

One funny thing though: Yokohama had Cooper making some of their tires because they couldn't or didn't want to supply them at one point. Don't know whether it's still true or not.
