should i get these or no? what other crap should i 'opt out' of when i get my tires mounted?

depends on the condition of your current ones... they arent that much extra so i would get them just to be safe...

Some people do, some don't. Usually it's less than $10 for all 4 tires so I do. But if you're really really strapped it won't kill you to use the old ones and hang on to the $8-$10 extra.

 

i would.....for the $10 that it cost........valve stems are made of rubber so they will dry rot over time.......but just like John said, if you are strapped and yours are in GREAT shape...

 

well i take pretty damn good care of my truck, including the tires.... my tires always look like their brand new minus any tread.... the valve stems are 'technically 3yrs old' since my truck was built in feb of 04, but i took deleivery aug 29th 04.... to give an idea of age...

 

we change out every valve stem no matter the age at work. its not worth the trouble of having to break the tire down again when the one thats in there has a split or something causing it to leak.

that what we do at my work too. i cant tell you how many times ive had people come back in saying their tire's leaking. then we gotta waste the 20 minutes finding out the problem. most of the time if they say its a leak with no puncture we put a new valve stem on and send them on their way. so deffinatly spend the few bucks to save you a hassle down the road, especially if there 3 years old.
