Tallest Highway Tires For 2 Wheel Drive?
Tallest Highway Tires For 2 Wheel Drive?
I'm sure this has been asked many times, but what are the tallest HIGHWAY tires that can be used on a 1999 2 wheel drive XLT with stock suspension?? (no T-bar crank on this model) I've seen tire charts for this model that jump from 235 /75r/15 (highway tire) to a taller 30 x 9.5 x15 off road tire. I'm wanting to install highway tires equivalent in height to the off- road tires for this model. Will 245/75r/15/ work????

There is no difference between the size of an off road tire and a highway tire. Measurements are the same. If a 30x9.5 will fit for an off road tire, then it will fit for a highway tire.
I got a good deal on 30x9.50x15 inch tires, so I'm putting those on this weekend. From what I've read, there is very little difference in height compared to 245x75x15. (the tire chart doesn't list 245x75x15 for any Ranger) I'm positive 30" tires will fit OK, but I was concerned about any tire rub issues on very sharp turns going across uneven pavement. It appears the slight tire rub issues on completely stock 2 wheel drive trucks only occur with the 31" tires, not the 30" tires. I haven't seen any threads concerning rubbing issues with 30" tires, so I'm about to find out this weekend. I don't have torsion bars, and I don't want to add coil spring spacers to make the ride more stiff. These trucks bounce pretty good as it is on dirt roads with everything stock.
