Satellite Radio antenna

I did some searching on where people ran there antenna's for the sat radio... but i really didn't find a whole lot. i have it mounted on the part right in behind of the hood next to the windshield (cowl) and I like it there. But i have the wiring running into my door behind the plastic trim and i'm worried that i'll break the wire. So I go to looking in my engine compartment to see if there was a way to get the cable from there to the cab and I found this plastic panel looking thing right behind the fuse box that looking like it might feed into the cab...

does anyone know where this door goes? Maybe Narnia? Also, where does the factory sat antenna run into the cab? That might be an option...

I saw were alot of people ran them through their 3rd brake light and if worse comes to worse I'll go that route. I know most people didn't have an issue with leaking, but I don't want to take that chance unless I have to.

i just drill a small hole in the firewall and run it out that way. Its how I wired my fogs. Get one of those rubber hole piece things somewhere and use that if you are worried about a leak.

actually....

remove the fusebox and pull it out of the way. right below that plastic thing is a bare spot, above where the main wiring harness enters the cab. the spot is clear on the inside, as well... good place to drill a couple holes for wiring. and the "rubber hole piece things" are called grommets, and you can buy them by the bagful for pennies...

Why dont you run it throught the interior and out the third brake light opening. Its perfect for that and gets the best reception

I have tucked all my wires to my Sirius behind my dash and ran the antenna on my mirror, every so often I have to put it on the dash. Thinking of making a little bracket off the 3rd brake light to mount it outside.

well i dont want the paint to fade or water to trap under it, so a bracket mounted off the 3rd light screw, I thought it would be a great idea so it keeps it off my truck and not have to worry.

Just take the two screws off the the brake light and run the wire on top of the headliner and under the plastic then down the plastic on the a pillar peice of cake.

I have had mine on the roof for about two years now and take it of to wash it and no problems so far.

Yeah satellite radio kicks ***. I had my XM antenna ran up the passanger pillar and just under the weather stripping out the door to the roof. Since I already had my GPS antenna out the third brake light and your supposed to place them far apart thats where it ended up. I did the same thing on the 150 and it works great.
